An interview with Arthur, an Engineer for the canoe-kayak family

julie

Who are you?

"I'm originally from Besançon; I first got on the water at the age of 7 in the rivers of the Jura mountains. A passion for paddling and whitewater was soon ignited, and since then my life has played out to the rhythm of paddle strokes and expeditions. Between these moments on the water, I managed to get a Master's degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering in Grenoble. I then worked for 2 years as a Process and Continuous Improvement Engineer at Camelin Décolletage, however, in January 2019, I left metalworking to follow my dreams. So I set up my own videography and photography business in addition to doing product development studies for a kayak brand. And February 2022 is when I got the chance to combine my interests with my skills by joining the ITIWIT team!"

What do you do at itiwit?

"I joined Itiwit as a Product Engineer for Packrafts and Canoe-Kayak paddles"

What do you like about kayaking?

"When you're on the water, you're constantly moving and seeing what's around you from a different perspective."

Your fondest memories

"A self-guided descent of the Rio Cofanes over several days, in the heart of the Ecuadorian jungle. The river was magnificent, in parts hemmed in on both sides by rusty-coloured cliffs topped with dense jungle. Our days on the water were punctuated by rapids and by macaws flying over our heads. And at night, we slept out on the riverbanks in our hammocks in the middle of the jungle under a starry sky."
