Tips

Storage advice
Dry, deflate, fold up. Store in a cool, dry place.
Use restriction
Do not leave inflated in the sun: risk of overinflation.

Features

Inflation recommendations & precautions
Inflate the floor first, then one of the side tubes and then the second tube to 50%. Check the overall positioning of the chambers. Then inflate it all to 100% without exceeding 0.1 bar (1.5 psi). DO NOT OVERINFLATE! Fully close all of the valves. Fit the 3 keels, unless using on a river containing little water. In the event of EXTREME HEAT, deflate the kayak slightly out of the water to avoid overinflation, which could damage the kayak.
Maintenance tips
In the event of damage to one of the side chambers, open the side tube lengthways using the zip and remove the chamber. The base cover can be removed using the Velcro. Example 1: the hole is in the side tube; you can use the repair kit to stick on a patch. Example 2: the hole is located along a seam; visit the workshop of a DECATHLON store to repair or exchange the bladder.
Easy to disassemble and fold
New carry bag for 2016, backpack style for short distances. New 2016 fins with easy clips. Dry and deflate the kayak by unscrewing the 3 "Boston" valves. Fold the side tubes down onto the floor. Roll, starting from the opposite side to the valves to squeeze out the air. Place the rolled-up kayak into the main compartment of the bag. Close the zip and tighten using the compression strap.
Glide performance
Patented bow shape: the front and back ends provide good glide. The V-shaped front of the kayak enables smooth entry into the water.

Very nice kayak - glad I got it.

To set the scene - I am 68yo, 94kg and its been 50 years since last using a sea canoe. She assembles easily and is confortable to carry to the water. I use her in the Thames Estuary, the last time in force 3-4 wind with a 2 foot chop. No problem with tracking and the waves are easy to deal with. Quite stable compared to the fibreglass kayaks. Still practicing getting into her elegantly! If you don't want to spend tons of money, this is a good choice. The seat could do with upgrading as the back is flimsy. Not too much of a problem as you lean forward to paddle anyway.

Recommendation - choose a paddle with a large blade area, not the smaller, skinny bladed ones. You want to be able to get good power into the blade in a chop

Next - I'm going to replace the 3 standard skegs with larger area ones. I'm looking for a replacement seat (although the standard one is quite adequate). Just treated myself to a full body wetsuit (£30), now to go out and practice capsize drill.

    Enjoy!

Faulty zips and non existent after sales service

After first use of this kayak the zip became stuck and the tab on the other one broke. This means you can’t dry the inner bladder or the canvas properly when you want to store it. Wish I had just paid to hire a kayak instead, would have saved about £150 as I only used it a couple of times

    Brand's answer :

    Dear Mr Smith,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have discovered issues with our 1 Man Itiwit kayak. It is something new what we have not seen before with this model. I guess it is probably individual case. This model has been introduced to the market 3-4 years ago, we sold thousands qtys worldwide and we didn't have any problems with the out layer zip? Please, is there any chance you could send me few pictures of the kayak and the broken part (email will be provided with my reply). I will forward them to the product engineer who can launched additional quality checks at the production level.

We do many spare parts for this kayak to increase life time of the product but unfortunately we don't do the out layer cover. In this case the only solution I can proposed is to replace it for the new one at one of our stores. In the UK or in Europe. Also you can use the online procedure for full refund or exchange.

Once again apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards,

    Itiwit 1 man inflatable kayak

Bought 2 of these kayaks from decathlon and they are not worth the hassle. Zippers became stuck after first use so you can’t take it apart to dry it out before storing. Zipper on other kayak broke
